Remembering My Old Life in Edmonton

I’m back in Edmonton for the first time since 2019. I spend the first two days working, visiting libraries in and around Edmonton. I purposely booked a hotel downtown, just a block away from the last apartment I lived in. Unsurprisingly, everything feels nostalgic.

On my first vacation day, I get coffee and breakfast at District Cafe on 109 Street. I spend an hour or two wandering the legislature grounds, and it’s an absolute blast from the past. For six years, from 2009-2015, I lived next to the Ledge Grounds so I’ve wandered here a lot.

Since I moved away in 2015, my life has changed and I’ve changed - more than a lot. As I wander the Ledge Grounds in perfect, crisp fall weather, I marvel at how far I’ve come. How much my beliefs have changed. How different my life is now. And how much happier I am.
